La Fortuna Waterfall

La Fortuna, Costa Rica is home to NOT only the Arenal Volcano, but I pretty cool waterfall as well.

Obviously we LOVE La Fortuna Costa Rica or we wouldn't LIVE here... YOU wouldn't live somewhere YOU didn't care for, would YOU? I've written numerous times about La Fortuna and what it has to OFFER and believe me, it's much more than just HOME to the ever-erupting Arenal Volcano.

So besides doing the famous Arenal volcano hike, I would suggest a visit to the La Fortuna waterfall (La Catarata) as well. The waterfall is located only about 3 miles from the center of town and nestled in the hills over looking La Fortuna. The cab ride is about $6.00 and entrance to the waterfall is $10.00 per person.

The hike down to the waterfall is a little steep, but rather nice. Hiking back up can be a little rough if you're not in shape, but you can rest as much as you'd like.

The first pic is a little downstream where you can swim with the fishes, then a scenic pic, next of course is La Fortuna Waterfall and then D'Angelo and myself hiking back up from the falls.

Hey guys I’m Michael Alan and I’m D’Angelo for http://www.TravelCostaRicaNow.com … Guys, we’re in our home town of La Fortuna, Costa Rica…. And today’s word of the day is “Catarata” which means – waterfall. We are up at the La Fortuna Waterfall also known as Catarata del Rio Fortuna. Si… Hey guys there’s four ways basically to get up here … You can take a taxi… which is going to run you about $6. Which is also the quickest way to get up here… whether you have a rental car or taxi. That’s one way… You can walk up here which is going to take about an hour and 15 minutes (over 4 km or 2.5 miles to walk), but it’s on a road so there’s like … you can stop in some places there’s some souvenir shop hammock places. It’s some what of a long walk… it’s up hill, down hill, mostly up hill on the way up to the La Fortuna waterfall… yeah right… You can also… there’s also some tours that come up here… there’s ATV Tours and Horseback riding tours to the waterfall…. Which are always fun to take. Now, also in this same area is the Cerro Chato hike which is the extinct volcano right next to the Arenal Volcano. So, that is in this area to, but it’s more extream… It’s and extream hike… it’s a beautiful extinct volcano you can hike up, and there’s a beautiful green lagoon up at the top you can go swimming in…. yeah, that will be another tape.

Hey, it’s going to cost you $10 to get in… you can see it behind us here… fallow us and we’re going to show you, and check it out. (it is not recommended for people with high blood pressure and you enter the park at your own risk. The administration is not responsible for any physical injuries that may occur in the reserve.)

TravelCostaRicaNow.com BABY!!!

Hey guys that’s refreshing… as you can see you can swim in there… It’s a beautiful , nice cold water to go jump in after that LONG trek down…. So, yeah…. A couple of things guys… there’s about 470 steps! (NO HANDYCAP RAMP) Uhhh… it seems like a lot more… but… hahaha it’s A LOT!! And they can be kind of slippery… so just be aware of that. This is the famous La Fortuna Waterfall, and um… if you guys come during the rainy season or it’s raining a lot … there’s a second waterfall over here to the side that looks really good. We’ll show you pictures of that was well.

Now we’re going to meet you back up…. Now if you’re not in shape like I am… you might have problems going up and you might need to rest a bit. Me, I use this as an exercise workout. …

I think… ummm… almost half way up there’s a bench area where you can rest if you need to other then that you’re gunna just have to stand on the side and rest… But, me I’ll meet you guys up there… see you in a few… okay?!

I didn’t think coming up was too bad!... yeah right!!, anyways… I hope you guys enjoyed the La Fortuna Waterfall… guys you definitely want to check it out if you’re in the area… I’m Michael alan… and I’m D’Angelo for www.TravelCostaRicaNow.com hope it helps….. Peace!!!

Hey guys, quick tip… there’s two souvenir shops here… one outside (by the parking lot) and one inside. The one inside… is a little bit bigger and has more stuff here, so if you’re looking for souvenirs and you’re in the area, and you’re up here… this one (inside the park) might be better than the one outside in the parking lot. Just a quick tip… Peace!!!
